DEBBIE DELUCCA

|
Whether De Lucca is swinging deftly through a jazz standard or shaking her curly
blond mane as she rocks a Janis Joplin tune, it’s clear that this Jersey native
lives and breathes music. As a teen, De Lucca found solace in her record
collection, steeped in ‘70s superstars like Elton John, Queen and Rod Stewart,
but it wasn’t until she attended a boyfriend’s band practice in high school that
she realized, “right then and there, that’s what I wanted to do!” She taught
herself to play bass, started singing, joined her first band, and never looked
back. Later, she picked up keyboards and applied herself to learning music
theory and vocal technique, studying at the famed Katie Agresta Studios in
Manhattan. De Lucca also studied pop and rock vocals with Diane Wesley and Cari
Cole and classical voice with Mario Lisanti. Since then, De Lucca has
recorded and performed jazz standards with small combos and big bands — making
even the oldest chestnuts her own with her powerful, emotion-driven delivery.
She’s also in demand for jingles, voice-over work and children’s albums.

time. When I perform, I give to the audience and receive just as much. And each
life and performing experience gives me more to draw from emotionally, and deepens
what I can convey through music. I never would have dreamed of the places in the
world and the places within myself that music has brought me, and I feel blessed
